In this brave new world we have 3D printers that can print human organs. We have a better understanding of the cosmos. Every field of study is making advances at a staggering rate. All these new ideas, products and services need to be sold.
Face-to-face selling has been unchanged in any meaningful way for decades. The reason for this stagnation is that the sales process works pretty well. The issue isn't sales training. The issue is getting salespeople to follow directions in the manner prescribed by sales gurus.
The old adage that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make her drink, sums up the problem. Salespeople are driven and they want to excel in their profession. They want more money, more recognition, to make a difference in the world.
